Darick J. Simpson is President of the Earl B. and Loraine H. Miller Foundation. Before joining the Miller Foundation in 2019 he served as Executive Director of the Long Beach Community Action Partnership (LBCAP) for thirteen years. With his leadership LBCAP grew from 24 staff and a $1.3 million budget to 80 staff and $10 million. Throughout his career Mr. Simpson has established an excellent reputation as a community leader with diverse experiences that include; television, business development, community development, youth programs and entertainment. His myriad awards and distinguished recognitions for service include; the 2008 Long Beach Chamber of Commerce Dewey Smith Community Service Award, recognition by the Long Beach Post as one of the Ten Most Powerful People in Long Beach in 2012, and the 2016 CCEJ Humanitarian Award. In 2015 Mr. Simpson was recognized as a PBS SoCal American Graduate Champion and featured in a video that aired on PBS in the Los Angeles market. Mr. Simpson has served on the National and State Community Action Partnership Board of Directors, he was a Public Social Service Commissioner for the County of Los Angeles from 2013 - 2019, and he is a member of the California State University Long Beach, Board of Community Advisers. In addition to corporate and community accomplishments, Mr. Simpson is a creative writer with three published books, one CD that can be found on iTunes and a podcast entitled Stories From The Journey of Life, that can be heard on podbean. Mr. Simpson was a member of the Recording Academy and a voting member of the Grammy Awards from 2008 – 2014. Mr. Simpson is an alumni of the University of Alabama, father of twins and very proud Grandfather of 3 girls and two boys.
