Kris Rowe started his career in Community Action at the age of 17 working at the Community Action Agency of South Alabama (CAASA). During his time at CAASA, Kris gained a wealth of experience and knowledge serving in a number of key roles, to include Housing/Weatherization Director, IT Director, Social Services Director, and CEO. Kris is well known throughout the CAA Network and has regularly served on national committees representing the state and the network. Earlier this year, as the Community Action Network prepared to address and respond to the challenges and disruptions caused by the pandemic, Kris was invited to be a member of the COVID-19 Response Group or CRG. Kris continues to serve on the Department of Energy (DOE) Leveraging Committee and, most recently, has become a charter member of the Equity and Economic Mobility Commission (EEMC), a group that will advise on issues and actions related to equity and advocate on behalf of the Community Action Network in order to promote the role of Community Action in addressing historical and widespread inequity, economic and otherwise, in our communities-especially communities of color. Kris is also a Nationally Certified ROMA Trainer and has successfully mentored several candidates in obtaining their certification.
