Jim Fletcher is vice president of external affairs for the Southeast utilities of Southern Company Gas. In this role, Fletcher is responsible for regulatory and state government affairs, community relations and economic development for Atlanta Gas Light, Chattanooga Gas and Virginia Natural Gas. Southern Company Gas is a subsidiary of Southern Company.
Before assuming his current role, Fletcher served as the vice president of external affairs and corporate services at Gulf Power, responsible for the company’s external endeavors including regulatory affairs, governmental relations, environmental affairs, corporate communications, generation resource planning, as well as the security, facilities and real estate organizations. Previously, he served as Georgia Power’s vice president of governmental and regulatory affairs and was also responsible for managing Georgia Power’s activities with the Georgia Public Service Commission. Fletcher began his career at Georgia Power as a cooperative education student in 1985 and held positions of increasing responsibility, including in customer service and sales.
A native of Macon, Ga., Fletcher is a graduate of Auburn University, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in business, specializing in industrial and operations management.
