Description
The challenges of dealing with difficult personalities, both as a sports official and an organizational leader, are a constant reality of life. George Bernard Shaw said, “I learned a long time ago to never wrestle with a pig…You both get dirty and the pig likes it.” Unfortunately, too many times our workplace cultures look more like barnyards than offices. In this session, Lavon identifies seven workplace “pig” personalities and the difficulties of working with each. “Never Wrestle with Pigs” delivers a high-impact message on the importance of relational skills in dealing with workplace personalities. More importantly, participants are challenged to identify the battles worth fighting and how to do it without smelling like a pig! At the conclusion of this module, participants will be able to: 1. Identify seven workplace PIG personalities, including: a. Bully (The Wild Boar) b. Passive-Aggressive (The Warthog) c. Sow (The Whiner) d. Know-It-All (The Haughty Pig) e. People Pleaser (The Pot Belly Pig) f. Piglet (The Want-to-Be Expert) g. Wilbur the Pig (The Ideal Employee) 2. Identify practical steps needed to successfully work with difficult workplace personalities; and, 3. Discuss the importance of relationships in navigating conflict and promoting a healthy work-place culture.
